Certificates of Lawful Development - where a requisite period
has passed, during which time no planning notice has been served
regarding the erection of a building on land, use of land or
breach of planning condition, it may be beneficial to the landowner
for them to obtain the council's written confirmation that the
existing development / use is lawful. The written confirmation
comes in the form of a Certificate of Lawful Development and
effectively means that the council cannot take any enforcement
action in respect of that existing development / use.
